🌧️ Monsoon Guide — Is Badrinath Safe During Rains?
Badrinath has a slight advantage over Kedarnath during monsoon because there's no trekking — you're in a vehicle on the road. But:
- Landslides are the main risk: The Joshimath-Badrinath road (NH-7) is vulnerable to landslides during heavy rain. BRO works continuously to keep it open, but delays of 2-6 hours are common.
- Road closures: In extreme rain, the road may close for 1-2 days. Always check with locals in Joshimath before proceeding.
- Helicopters: Available from Dehradun to Badrinath but stop during bad weather.
- Our recommendation: Avoid July–August if possible. September is the sweet spot — post-monsoon greenery with minimal rain risk.
